Common Misconceptions and Myths about Chiropractic Care

We often see patients who have never experienced chiropractic care before, and naturally have a lot of questions for us. At Holmes Chiropractic, as many of you know, we love to discuss chiropractic and how it helps your body heal. We want to address some myths we commonly are asked about to provide more information about chiropractic care.

Do adjustments hurt?

There’s a lot of misconception about whether it hurts to be under chiropractic care. This is usually related to a noise that is sometimes heard during the adjustment. That noise is NOT your bone cracking or being moved! It’s from pressure that’s built up in your joint finally being released and allowing your body to heal correctly. Chiropractic care does not hurt, and makes you feel great.

Does it take 100 adjustments to get better?

We’ve had patients come into our office who have seen other chiropractors previously and report that they were told that 100 or 150 visits would be needed, or a specific, large amount of money that their total visits would cost.

We’re different from that. We’ll care for you for a few weeks, and then re-evaluate to understand your body’s progress and change your care plan based on those re-evaluations. Our care durations are fairly short, and you’re continually evaluated to make sure we’re giving you exactly what you need, no more. We’ll definitely never tell you that you’ll need 150 visits!

Is the therapy you use effective?

The specific techniques we use, including therapies that compliment your chiropractic care with us, are designed to release stress and create balance in the soft tissue and nervous system. Our focus is on both the skeletal system and the nervous system and balancing these to make you heal and feel better. We’ll never recommend anything that won’t help your healing process, and we’ll strive to make your care comfortable and relaxing on each visit.

Our goal is to provide our patients with an alternative to medicine that is safe, effective, and allows the body to heal naturally. We’d be happy to answer any other questions you have. Call us today at (925) 938-1122.
